William Harold Ivey, 94, passed away October 19, 2011 at Coventry House of Siler City after several months of declining health.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 Pm at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 4:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Siler City.
Harold was born September 8, 1917 to Preston and Minnie Ivey. He was an Army Veteran, serving in WWII. During his military time he learned to operate heavy equipment which continued to be his occupation after his discharge. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Siler City, the Masonic Lodge and the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Louise; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Mike Newton of Little River, SC; grandson, Michael Newton of Naples, FL; sisters, Louise Womble and Mary Frances Smith; sisters-in-law, Emily Carter and Matilda Carter, all of Siler City and several nieces and nephews.
