William Nathan Fields, 84, of Reno Sharpe Store Road, Bear Creek died Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford.
Mr. Fields was born in Chatham County on March 25, 1932, the son of Thomas N. and Annie Pearl Tillman Fields.
William was retired from the Roberts Company, and was am Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. William was a member of Antioch Christian Church, loved his grandchildren, working outside, caring for his wife, Alma, and was an avid sports fan. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Eugene Fields, Warren Fields, sisters, Beatrice Gunter and Inez McFarland.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Alma Thomas Fields, daughters: Sandra F. Duty and husband, Joe of Broadway and Cindy F. Mason and husband, Ray of Bear Creek, son: W. Dwight Fields and fiancee, Janet Groce of Goldston, sisters: Lillie F. Beal of Goldston, and Virginia Gunter of Pittsboro, grandchildren, Ethan Mason (Rachel Prosser), Erica McLeod and husband, Sammy, great grandchildren, Cheyenne McLeod and Joseph Duty.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Ave. Siler City, and other times at the family home. The funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Antioch Christian Church, 246 Antioch Christian Church Road, Bear Creek with Rev. Val Chadwick and Rev. Clark Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
