William Bryant Womble, 77, of Coleridge Road, Siler City went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Chatham Hospital.
Mr. Womble was born in Chatham County on November 26, 1938 the son of James Alex and Nannie (Hart) Womble. Bryant was a veteran of the US Army, a member of Rives Chapel Baptist Church and had attended the First Wesleyan Church. He was retired from Spence Building Supply where he worked installing carpet. He enjoyed antiques; fishing, hunting, vacation trips and time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bryant will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years: Rachel (McNeill) Womble; daughters: Gay Lynn W. Whitaker and husband, Barry of Siler City and Beverly Sue W. Teague of Bennett; two brothers: Earl Womble and Melvin Womble both of Siler City; grandchildren, Sabrina Teague Siler and husband, Charlie; Christopher Emery; Danielle and Dylan Fleming and Austin Whitaker; great-grandchildren, Abigail Moody and Spencer and Noah Siler; canine companion, Scooter.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 30, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home The funeral will be Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City with Rev. Ricky Sessoms officiating. Burial will be in Rives Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Siler City with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
