Virginia Sipe Moody

Virginia Sipe Moody "Pete", 88, of Bear Creek died Sunday, March 19, 2017 at St. Joseph Of The Pines, Southern Pines. Mrs. Moody was born in Rockingham County on October 16, 1928 the daughter of Oscar Lee and Minnie (Alcon) Sipe. She retired from A. J. Schneierson after 34 years of service. Virginia was a member of Sandy Branch Baptist Church and the Ladies Adult Sunday School Class. She enjoyed preparing Sunday Lunches and holiday meals for her family. She always made sure all her grandchildren had their favorite dishes. Virginia also was a huge fan of ACC basketball, enjoyed bowling, quilting, and traveling. She took great pleasure in gardening and preserving the bounty they produced. She also had a gift in growing flowers, especially Christmas cactus. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Thomas H. Moody; her parents; brothers, Ralph, Ed, Paul and Bill Sipe; sisters, Alta Green and Lois Gilliland. She is survived by three daughters: Patricia M. Butt and husband, Robert of Oak Island, Norma M. Faulk of Southern Pines and Nancy M. Lindley and husband, Darryle of Snow Camp; one brother: Jack Sipe of Bear Creek; grandchildren, Shane Pegram, Thomas R. Cooney, Jr.,Mary E. Maynard, James and Chris Gilliland; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jenna Gilliland, Madison Coston, and Davis Pegram. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 5:30 - 7:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, 715 Sandy Branch Church Road, Bear Creek with Rev. Marc Saunders officiating.
