Victoria Marilyn Wood Thekkekandam, 76 of Siler City passed away in her home on July 16, 2022 with her husband holding vigil by her side.
Victoria was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 5, 1945 to Hazel and Samuel Dennis Wood. She attended Wayne State University where she attained a degree in photojournalism and UNC-Greensboro where she obtained her MBA.
Victoria married Joseph Thomas Thekkekandam and together they had one son named Thomas Joseph Thekkekandam. She was employed by Volvo-White Corporation and later followed her passion for education becoming a teacher at Pleasant Garden Elementary School. She enjoyed fishing, sewing and spending time with her grandson, August. Victoria was also a proud member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Julia’s Catholic Church, Toastmasters and Civil Air Patrol. Victoria is survived by her husband of over 50 years, her brothers London, Holland and Juarez Wood and son, Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Elaine Ragin and brothers Dennis Wood and Martin Wood.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, 230 N. Second Ave., Siler City, NC on Saturday, July 23, 2022. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Park.
