Vera Mae White Edwards

Vera White Edwards, 96, of Edwards Road, Siler City died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Chatham Hospital, Inc. Mrs. Edwards was born in Alamance County on October 29, 1916 the daughter of Adrian and Lovie (Mann) White. She was a member of Rocky River Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, the Women's Bible Sunday School Class, the Pearl Johnson WMU and assisted with VBS. Vera worked for over 30 years as librarian at Wren Memorial Library and for many of those years she operated the Book Mobile of Chatham County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Paul Edwards; her parents; brothers, Arthur Ivey White, Allie Martin White (Alice); and sisters, Mary Bernice White, Gladys White Shaw (Woodie); nephew, Ed Clapp (Eleanor). She is survived by nephews, Dr. Jim Clapp (Janet), Bobby White (Glenda) of High Point, Jerry White (Angeline) of High Point, Mike White (April) of Glenmoore, PA.; niece, Nancy Clapp Oldham (Byron); great-nephews, Edwin Clapp (Danette), Dr. Tim Clapp (Sharon) and Al Clapp (Laura), Ben Oldham (Colleen), Tommy Clapp (Kathy); great-niece, Pam Oldham Tew; sister-in-law, Agnes White of Graham. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral will be Friday, January 18, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Rocky River Baptist, 4436 Siler City-Snow Camp Road, Siler City with Rev. Greg Burriss officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family wishes to express their appreciation to caregivers, Jane Scott, Margie Cockman and Lib Holder for their loving care of Vera.
