Thomas "Tom" Howard Clark, 75, of Joe Brown Road, Bear Creek died Sunday, January 26, 2020 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
Mr. Clark was born in Chatham County on May 1, 1944 the son of George Garland and Laura Emma (Kiser) Clark. Tom was a lifetime member of Oakley Baptist Church and served in the Army as an MP during the Vietnam era. Tom was a cattle farmer, content to work with cows, mow hay and any other challenges he met in his farming life. He enjoyed riding bulls in rodeos and spinning a tall tale or two. Tom has been described as " an independent, self-made, Christian man, who enjoyed sharing his sense of humor not only with his nieces and nephews but other close friends as well".
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter Clark; and father-in-law, Colon Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Jan (Brown) Clark; one sister: Pat Brown (Nowell); mother-in-law, Inez Brown; brother-in-law, James Brown (Becky); sisters-in-law, Peggy Mora (Dean), Bonnie Caviness (Joel); nieces and nephews, Nikki Cavin (Brandon), Lauren Rizzuto (Jason), Jesse Brown (Shannon), Alex Mora (Sarah), Tyler Mora (Brittany), Trent Caviness (Brittany); great nieces and nephews, Bryce & Braelyn Cavin, Colon & Levi Brown, William Rizzuto, Chloe Caviness, Adam Mora; and very special friends, Ben Jones and Charles Perry.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 6:00-9:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Oakley Baptist Church, 2300 Siler City-Glendon Road, Siler City with Rev. Dr. Jeff Johnson and Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
