Thomas Crabtree Dixon, 87, of Siler City died Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Siler City Center.
Mr. Dixon was born May 1, 1929 the son of Zachary Taylor and Mary Brooks Dixon.
Mr. Dixon was a native of Chatham County. He was retired from University of North Carolina in the maintenance department, enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, farming, watching Judge Judy and old western movies. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Vera Faye Millikan Dixon, son, Bill Dixon, sister, Joyce White, and grandson, Jeremy Fields.
He is survived by daughter: Cecelia D. Fields of Siler City, son: Mike Dixon and wife Ellen of Siler City, step-daughters, Daisy Maness and husband, James Harler of Chapel Hill, Linda Owens and husband, Rodney of Lexington, and Sherrie Staley and husband, Mark of Liberty, step-son, Julius "Buddy" Maness, Jr. and wife, Beth of Burlington, grandchildren; Lyle Brinn, Jeff Fields, Becky Dixon, Michael Dixon, Stacy Speers, Adam Staley, Jessie Staley, Rodney Owens, Denise Bibb, Toby Barnhill, Cindy Jackson, Seth Maness, Phillip Steele, Tyler Maness and Tiffany Maness, great-grandchildren, Jaxon Dixon, Peyton Speers, Anela Owens, Aaliyah Maness and Gage Maness.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 6 - 8 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. Other times they will be at the home of son, Mike and Ellen Dixon, 1136 Rufus Brewer Road, Siler City. The funeral will be Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 3631 Mt. Vernon-Hickory Mountain Road, Siler City with Rev. Jason Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
