Stephanie Tarkenton Walkup

Stephanie Renee Tarkenton Walkup, 48, of Siler City passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021.

Mrs. Walkup was born in Chatham County on March 27, 1973, the daughter of Donald Lee and Margaret Johnson Tarkenton.

Stephanie was a 1991 graduate of Jordan Matthews High School, afterwards graduating in 1995 from UNC Charlotte receiving her RN/BSN. She worked at Chatham Hospital and Central Carolina Hospital, as well as serving as a travelling nurse during COVID. Stephanie loved to rescue dogs and was devoted to the American Cancer Society and the Relay for Life. She loved going to the beach and boating with her family and friends in her free time. Stephanie is preceded in death by her father, maternal grandparents, Robert H. and Pauline Saunders Johnson; and paternal grandfather, James T. "Teddy" Tarkenton.

She is survived by her husband of 7 years, Chris Walkup of Siler City; mother, Margaret Johnson Tarkenton of Siler City; stepsons, Cody and Landon Walkup; and paternal grandmother; Elsie L. Tarkenton of Chesapeake, VA.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
