Shirley Ann Gunter Poe

Shirley Gunter Poe, 80, of Siler City died Friday, December 16, 2016 at Universal Health Care Of Ramseur. Mrs. Poe was born in Chatham County on August 24, 1936 the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Womble) Gunter. Shirley was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and had been employed in retail sales at Food Lion and WalMart and in the Stockyard Restaurant as a waitress but she was happiest as a homemaker. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Russell Poe; her parents; brothers, Raeford and Gerald Gunter and sister, Nadene Crabtree. She is survived by one daughter: Linda Faucette and husband, Bill of Asheboro; three sons: Jimmy Poe and wife, Susan of Goldston, Virgil Poe of Siler City and. Dennis Poe and wife, Maria of Bear Creek; sisters: Dorathalene Franklin of Graham, Berniece Badders of Clayton; brothers: Charles S. Gunter and wife, Faye of Siler City, Laddie Gunter of Goldston; grandchildren, Brad (Erin), Beverly (Lee) and Ryan; great-grandchild, Mackenzie. The family will receive friends Monday, December 19, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Fellowship Baptist Church, 120 Fellowship Church Road, Siler City. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
