Sarah Pike Siler Gardner, 64, of Siler City, went to her heavenly home on Friday, February 11, 2022 at UNC Hospice in Pittsboro.
Mrs. Gardner was born in Chatham County on January 27, 1958, the daughter of George E. and Mary Pickard Pike.
Sarah was baptized and raised in Rocky River Baptist Church. She later became an active member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church, where she sang in the church choir, and assisted with the Children's Ministries as well as Vacation Bible School. She loved listening to gospel music. Before retiring from Children's First Learning Center, Sarah worked for Glendale Hosiery and Ramtex. Sarah was an amazing cook, she loved to bake and was known all around for her famous pound cakes. She was a die hard UNC Tarheel fan. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to the beach and watching the ocean. Sarah cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, and never missed one of their sporting events. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her first husband William Donald Siler; and brother George Daniel "Danny" Pike.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Glenn Gardner "Frankie" of Siler City; daughter, Emily Gilbert and husband Joshua of Bear Creek; son, Charlie Siler and wife Sabrina of Siler City; grandchildren, Jeremy and Haleigh Gilbert, Abby Moody, Spencer Siler, Emma Gilbert and Noah Siler; father, George Edward Pike; sister, Diane P. Wright and husband Tony of Siler City; and brothers, Manuel Pike and wife Andrea of Siler City, and Chris Pike and wife Catie of Siler City; sisters in law, Pam Pike of Siler City and Sue Parker and husband Danny of Sanford; brother in law, Darrell Siler and wife Vicky of Siler City; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gardner will Lie in Repose on Sunday, February 13, 2022 from 1:00-5:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 N. Second Ave., Siler City.The family will receive friends other times at the home of Charlie Siler, 850 Grady Siler Rd., Siler City. The funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, February 14, 2022 Piney Grove United Methodist Church, Piney Grove Church Road, Siler City, with Pastor Steve Moore and Rev. Parker Coppock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family asks that you wear a mask during all services.
