Sarah Freeland Perry, 81, of 2146 Bowers Store Road, Siler City died Monday, July 22, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Perry was born in Orange County on February 4, 1932 the daughter of John and Jessie (Secrest) Freeland. She was a member of Hickory Mountain Baptist Church where she helped with Vacation Bible School. She retired from Kellwood, Inc after 20 years of service. Sarah was truly gifted, caring for homebound seniors. She enjoyed reading her Bible, and visiting in the nursing homes. She always welcomed and received everyone with a smile. She had a great love for her family, children and grandchildren. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Fred (Buck) Perry; her parents; brother, Johnny Freeland, Jr.; sister, Elizabeth F. Herdegen.
She is survived by one daughter: Sylvia P. Tant; one son: Mel L. Perry and wife, Wilma; grandchildren, Kenneth Hayes, Cynthia Mote, Timothy Pendergrass and wife, Sheila; great-grandchildren, Carrie Mote, Corey Mote; all of Siler City; brother, Billy Freeland of Chapel Hill, NC.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the special care givers that helped with Sarah during the nine and half years of her declining health, Wanda Stuart, Cynthia Mote, Amber Dixon, Carrie Mote, Janie Lindley and Melissa Smith. Also thanks to a special Hospice CNA, Krystal Wells, who was always smiling when she entered the room, bringing joy to Sarah.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home and other times at the family home. The funeral will be Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Jamie Pearce and Rev. William Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Perry Family Cemetery.
