Sally Elizabeth Dunn Emerson Maness

Sally Dunn Emerson Maness of Siler City passed away peacefully in her sleep at Chatham Hospital on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 with her son and daughter in law by her side. Sally was born June 28, 1924 to Riley Clifton and Sarah Elizabeth Dunn in Bear Creek, NC. She worked for 30 years at the original Chatham Hospital in Siler City. Her retirement was spent tending to her flowers, her home and a bevy of cats at the home she shared on the farm with her husband of almost fifty years, James Shuby Maness. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Riley Clifton and Sara Elizabeth Dunn, her sisters, Lorene Dunn Sipe (Ed) and Margie Dunn McKague (Rick), a daughter Lee Emerson McLean,a grandson, Brian Louis Emerson and her first husband, Raymond Emerson. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, William Louis Emerson (Lucy) of Antioch and daughter Susan Emerson Holt (Charles) of Greensboro, along with her grandchildren, Emerson McLean Berne (David) of Southport, Missy McLean Daniels (Michael) of Ocala, FL, Will McLean (Kristen) of Asheville, Melinda Emerson of Greensboro, Carlyle Holt (Angela) of Greensboro, Ryan Holt (Steph) of St. Pete, FL, Alexander Holt (Amanda) of Goldston,, Mary Holt of St. Pete, FL, Carla Emerson of Burlington and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, 2015, from 6 to 8pm at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. Funeral will be 2 PM Friday, July 24, 2015 at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, Bear Creek with Rev. Marc Saunders officiating.
