Ruth Boekelheide Northington

Ruth Boekelheide Northington, 96, of Siler City died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at home. Mrs. Northington was born on November 19, 1918 in Northville, South Dakota the daughter of William and Lulu (Schlake) Boekelheide. Ruth was a graduate of South Dakota State and then pursued her Master's degree at the University of Chicago. Ruth married Dr. James Northington in Vermillion, South Dakota in 1945. The couple made their home in Siler City in 1961. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Siler City, the Chatham Hospital Auxiliary, the Garden Club and the Coffee Break Bowling League. Ruth is survived by one daughter: Anne Northington Mathias and husband, Dean, of Siler City,; one son: Bill Northington of Greenville; grandchildren, Helen Mathias of Greensboro, Cate and John Northington of Ormond Beach, FL, Bryce Northington of Durham and four great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 3:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, 1101 West Raleigh Street, Siler City with Rev. Clyde Denny officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall after the service.
