Ruby Hannon Smith, born July 21, 1923, died September 23, 2014. Ruby Hannon Smith, 2475 Coleridge Road, Siler City, died at UNC Memorial Hospital on September 23, 2014, after a brief illness. Mrs. Smith was born in Randleman, N. C., the daughter of Mattie Lula Crutchfield and William David (W. D.) Hannon. She was a member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church, Ramseur, N. C. She was a member of the Rehobeth UMW and a former member of the Brush Creek Home Demonstration Club. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Smith Eggleston and husband, Floyd of Whitsett, N. C.; a son, John Darrell Smith of Siler City, N. C.; brother, John P. Hannon of Scottsdale, Arizona; granddaughter, Amy Eggleston Davis and husband, Jeffrey and great-grandchildren, Carter, Braedon and Maddy Davis of Richardson, Texas; grandson, Mike (Carrie) Eggleston and a great-grandson, Chris (Katie) Eggleston of Colorado and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde S. Smith; sister, Faye H. Brower and brother, Thomas Hannon, along with three half brothers, Marco, Odell and David Hannon. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 26, 20104 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC 27344. The funeral wil be Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Rehobeth United Methodist Church, Ramseur, NC 27316 with Rev. Harold Hammond and Rev. Bob Dowling officiating. Memorials may be made to Rehobeth UMC Cemetery Fund, c/o Darden Jarman, 3165 West Third Street, Siler City, NC 27344 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
