Rolfe Lee Phillips, 66, of Asheboro died Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro.
Mr. Phillips was born in Chatham County on June 20, 1949 the son of the late Rolfe Riddle and Polly (Hargrove) Phillips. Rolfe was a member of Rives Chapel Baptist Church, a Sunday School teacher and an ordained minister. He had taught auto mechanics at Randolph Community College, had worked at Chatham Auto Parts in Siler City and was a self employed automotive mechanic, whose skills and knowledge was widely known and respected.
Rolfe was preceded in death by his father and a son, Terry Phillips.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years: Sandra (Hall) Phillips; two daughters: Molly Phillips of Asheboro and Taylor P. Underwood and husband, Eddie of Paris Island, SC; mother, Polly (Hargrove) Phillips; two sisters: Elaine P. Dixon and husband, Winford and Gloria P. Josey and husband, Wayne; one brother: Robert Van Phillips and wife, Linda all of Siler City; grandchildren, Adam, Clay, Blakely, Camden, Chance and Tinsley; step-daughter, Angela Flowers Still and husband, Michael of Jamestown.
A memorial service will be Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Rives Chapel Baptist Church, 4338 Rives Chapel Church Road, Siler City with Dr. Tripp Foltz officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
