Robie Elon Phillips, Jr., 85, of Eden Hills Road, Siler City died Friday, April 22, 2016 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Mr. Phillips was born in Chatham County on June 24, 1930 the son of Robie Elon Phillips, Sr. and Alice Verna (Hall) Phillips. Robie was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he was a member of the Senior Men's Adult Sunday School Class, a former Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He worked for many years in High Point at Heirloom Furniture Company as an upholsterer.
Robie was preceded in death by his wife, Emogene Brooks Phillips; his parents and a sister, Joyce Phillips Leonard.
He is survived by one daughter: Connie Phillips Gee and husband, Henry of Siler City;grandchildren, Brad Gee and wife, Stephanie, Allison Poremba and husband, Todd, Ashley Allred and husband, Michael, Natalie Gee; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Tyler Gee, Caden, Maddox and Bryce Poremba; two brothers: Glenn Phillips of Goldsboro, Greg Phillips and wife, Judy of North Myrtle Beach, SC.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the family home. The funeral will be Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Fellowship Baptist Church, 120 Fellowship Church Road, Siler City with Rev. Jason Golden and Rev. Glenn Phillips, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
