Robert O. "Kitten" Holt

Robert O. "Kitten" Holt, 75, of Siler City died Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Chatham Hospital. Mr. Holt was born in Chatham County on October 8, 1940 the son of Newby and Carrie Lee (Johnson) Holt. He was the retired owner/operator of Robert Holt Flooring and an active member of Rives Chapel Baptist Church. He was currently serving on the church cemetery and the new building committees. He was always found with a piece of gum in his pocket to give to the children at church. Kitten enjoyed coaching Little League ball teams, on the field now named for him, Kitten Holt Field, golfing, gardening and raising all types fruits and vegetables. He never met a stranger and had a gift for gab, often telling a joke. Kitten was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry, Lewis, David and Jack Holt; sister, Thelma H. Pickard. He is survived by his wife of 26 years: Charlotte (Hennis) Holt, three sons: Jeff Holt of Canton, MI, Chris Holt of Siler City, NC, Randy Holt and wife, Bethony of Siler City, NC; one daughter: Luanne H. Oestreich and husband, Jeff of Cary, NC; step-daughters, Laresa Watkins and husband, Jason of Bonlee, NC, Casey Corder and husband, John Meredith of Apex, NC, Julie Fletcher and husband, Johnny of Mt. Airy, NC; three brothers: Bryce Holt of Siler City, NC, Carl Holt and wife, Rosemary of Siler City, NC, Mack Holt of Bonlee, NC; four sisters: Eugenia Lanier and husband, Jerry of Emerald Isle, NC, Margaret Dowd and husband, Clyde of Siler City, NC, Carol Burke and husband, Wilson of Asheboro, NC, Eleanor Hawkins of Asheboro, NC; sister-in-law, Joretta Holt of Asheboro ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Rives Chapel Baptist Church, 4338 Rives Chapel Church Road, Siler City with Rev. Dr. Tripp Foltz and Rev. Chance Walters officiating.
