Ricky Dean Gaines

Ricky Dean Gaines, 64, of NC Hwy 42, Goldston died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Gaines was born in Lee County on May 3, 1949 the son of Robert C. and Gertie Lee Gaines. He was a self employed carpenter and farmer. He enjoyed time spent with his family, playing cards, horseshoes and corn hole toss. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carolyn Gilliland. He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Brenda (Talley) Gaines, two daughters: Angie Gaines Kay, Allison McNeill and one son: Robbie Gaines and wife, Daisha; sister: Brenda G. Beal; one brother: Roger (Bow) Gaines and wife, Peggie all of Goldston, NC; six grandchildren; one; great-grandson and two step-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the home of the daughter, Allison McNeill, 2370 NC Hwy 42, Goldston. The funeral will be Friday, April 4, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2981 Hwy 42, Goldston with Rev. Phillip Nelson officiating.
