Richard “Dickie” Devon Moore, 70, of Bear Creek, went home to be with the Lord on December 8th, 2024, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh surrounded by family.
Dickie was born March 19th, 1954, in Harnett County to Richard Vander and Myrtle Johnson Moore. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard, and his brother, Timothy J. Moore.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 46 years, Nina Weaver Moore of Bear Creek; his sons, Richard D. Moore and his fiancé, Brooke of Bear Creek, and Thomas J. Moore and his wife, Liz of Sanford; his grandchildren, Hudson, and Tucker; his mother, Myrtle Johnson Moore of Durham; and one sister, Gwen M. Brodd and her husband, Jeff of Cary; and four nephews, Derek, Kyle, Mark, and Scott Brodd.
Dickie was an electrician by trade, and he taught electrical systems technology at Wake Technical Community College where he was the head of that department. He was a mentor to all his students. “Giving is often a family affair. Electrical/electronic technology student Richard Moore, son of instructor Richard Moore, says his father taught the importance of giving. They volunteer their skills to the N.C. Rural Community Assistance Program, providing wiring for impoverished, often elderly people in rural communities.” – Wake Technical Community College Newsletter.
Dickie loved to deer hunt, camp, read, and sew leather packs. He loved his farm “Secluded Acres” and loved that his friends and family could gather to hunt and fish and enjoy the land. He was a member of Tyson’s Creek Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday school class. He previously served as an Elder of New Haven Baptist Church and as an usher at Salem Baptist Church.
Celebration of Life services will be held Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, at 2 pm, at Tyson’s Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Walker and Pastor Scott Brodd officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Tyson’s Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
