Rev. Reggie Berlin Rakes, 76, of Siler City died Sunday, December 24, 2017, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
Mr. Rakes was born in Hemphill, WVA, on January 22, 1941, the son of Irvin Slemp and Dora Alma (Fields) Rakes. Reggie was retired from EDM Printers in High Point, and was Pastor of Pentecostal Victory Temple Church for 31 years. He had been in the Ministry for over 50 years, and helped run the food pantry at Pentecostal Victory Temple for 26 years, and was District Overseer of the Living Waters Ministry for 40 years. Rev. Rakes loved sharing the gospel, loved his church, his family, and always had encouraging words to anyone he met. He loved playing the piano, guitar, and UNO. He was very proud to have recorded three CD'S.
Rev. Rakes was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Stella Rakes and Phyllis Street; daughter, Pamela George, grandson, Taylor Ikner, and granddaughter, Angela Faith.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years: Margaret (Butler) Rakes, five daughters: Wanda Davis and husband, Tim of Mount Airy, Donna Ikner and husband, Ronnie of Linwood, Lori Martin and husband, Randy of Lexington, Angela Garner of Siler City, and Cameron Rakes of Siler City, one son: Fred Cordial and wife, Lori of Walnut Cove; one sister: Della Rogers of High Point; two brothers: Tommy Rakes of Stoneville, and David Rakes and wife, Nancy of Asheboro,18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at Thursday at Pentecostal Victory Temple, 18074 US Hwy 64 West, Siler City. The funeral will follow Thursday at 2:00 PM at the church with Rev. David Smith and Pastor Jerry Goode and Rev. Andrew Draughn officiating officiating. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.
