Raeford Howard Gunter

Raeford Howard Gunter, 87, of Driftwood Drive, Siler City died Friday, September 13, 2013 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill. Mr. Gunter was born March 21, 1926, the son of Charlie and Lillian (Womble) Gunter. He was retired from Boling Chair Co. and had worked for Goldston Lumber Co. and Chatham Novelties. Raeford enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Brookdale Baptist Church. Raeford was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Allene Gilmore Snow and Vernelle McBane Thomas Gunter, a sister, Nadine Crabtree and a brother, Gerald Gunter. He is survived by one daughter: Leann Robinson of Siler City, NC; one son: Howard Gunter of Siler City, NC; three sisters: Dorthlene Franklin of Graham, NC, Bernice Badders of Clayton, NC, and Shirley Poe of Siler City, NC; two brothers: Charlie Gunter of Siler City, NC, Laddie Gunter of Goldston, NC; five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, The family will receive friends Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. A graveside service will be held Monday, September 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Rives Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, 4258 Rives Chapel Rd., Siler City with Rev. J. V.
