Rachel Lambe Brown Cheek, 88, of Staley died Monday, April 11, 2016 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mrs. Cheek was born in Chatham County on March 8, 1928 the daughter of Clyce and Maude (Huckabee) Lambe. She was employed as a folder at Asheboro Hosiery for over 25 years. Rachel was a member of Grace Community Fellowship Baptist Church of Ramseur where she was a member of the Young At Heart Sunday School Class and enjoyed singing in the choir. She enjoyed gospel music, cooking, word search puzzles and working with her flower gardens.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husbands, Wilborn Brown, Charles Cheek; her parents and sisters, Margaret Flippin, Lucille Cecil, Ruth Lambe; step-mother, Austia Lambe.
She is survived by one daughter: Linda Manning and husband, Wayne of Staley; sons, Gary Brown, Randy Brown, Hugh Brown and wife, Sandy all of Bear Creek, NC; four step-children; step-sister, Doris Hatfield and husband, Eddie of Bear Creek, NC; six grandsons; two step-granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the home of the daughter, Linda Manning. The funeral will be Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Grace Community Fellowship Baptist Church, 7500 US Hwy 64, Ramseur with Rev. Shaun Greene and Rev. Edwin Moore officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Christian Church Cemetery, Bennett.
