Rachel Jessup Johnson

Rachel Jessup Johnson, 93, of Siler City, left this world Friday, January 24th, 2025, at SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan Hospice Home of UNC Health Care in Pittsboro.

Rachel was born February 20th, 1931, to the late Levi Martin and Doasha Mae Tilley Jessup. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Johnson; two sons, Gary Wayne Johnson and Dean Johnson; and grandson, Stevie Johnson. Rachel was raised in a large family of loving siblings and has joined brothers, Boyd, Howard, Lester, Marvin, Rex, Levi, Jr.; sisters, Bessie J.; Brewer, Eva J. Ward, Mary Ellen Creason, and June J. Dixon. All of whom are at rest now in Heaven.

She is survived by her son, James Keith Johnson; grandchildren, Zachary & Dillon Johnson, Chris Wayne Johnson, Scott Johnson, Danielle Mehaffey, Adina Person, and Brandi Hayes; sisters, Inez J. Brown of Siler City, Laura J. Hauser of Walkertown, Linda J. Sink of Winston Salem; brother, Richard Jessup of Wilmington; and there are numerous great grandchildren.

Rachel was a gentle soul. She raised her family and was quick to share her love with everyone. She did public work at Kellwood Manufacturing in Siler City. She was very content being at home sitting on the porch with cats in her lap.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 29th, 2025, at 2 pm, at Meroney Methodist Church in Bear Creek. Reverend Bob Lovette will be officiating the service.
