Rachel Ellis Blalock

Rachel Ellis Blalock, 93, died Friday, January 15, 2016 at Chatham Hospital, Inc., Siler City. Mrs. Blalock was born October 11, 1922, the daughter of Robert Henry and Ozie Woody Ellis. Mrs. Blalock was a native of Chatham County. Rachel was member of Bear Creek Baptist Church and retired from Collins and Aikman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jesse Russell Blalock, Sr., son, Jesse Russell Blalock, Jr., daughter, JoAnn Blalock and a great-granddaughter, Diamond, brothers; George Ellis, Billy Ellis, Lynn Ellis, sister; Hazel Barber. She is survived by daughters: Brenda B. Smith and husband, Tommy of Siler City, Martha Jane B. Humble of Liberty, six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, sisters: Ruby E. Holt of Siler City, NC, Shirley E. Thomas of Sanford, Nancy E. Beal of Bear Creek, brothers: Obie Ellis of Sanford, NC, Bobby Ellis of New Port, NC, Walter "Dink" Ellis of Bear Creek, NC, daughter-in-law Edith Blalock. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday January 19, 2016 at Bear Creek Baptist Church, 1278 Bonlee-Carbonton Road, Bear Creek, NC. with Rev. David Hicks and Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will follow in the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
