Peggy Buckner Kirby

Peggy Buckner Kirby, 79, of Jessie Bridges Road, Siler City died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro. Mrs. Kirby was born in Chatham County on January 15, 1933 the daughter of Randolph and Mae (Crutchfield) Buckner. Peggy was a member of Rocky River Baptist Church. She was employed by UNC as an accounting clerk for over 20 years. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, BettyLee Carol, Myra Brady and Doris Buckner; brothers, Winfred and Lynn Buckner. She is survived by three daughters: Diane B. Smith and husband, Max of Bear Creek, NC, Terry G. Brooks and husband, Tim of Siler City, NC, Donna K. Carden and husband, Ervin of Henderson, NC and two sons: Gary L. Kirby and wife, Kathy of Chapel Hill, NC, Steven T. Kirby of Chapel Hill, NC; grandchildren, Emily Moran, Maggie Smith, Jon Brooks, Zach Brooks, Heath Carden, Adam Carden, Jessica Kirby, Anna Paige Kirby and Trenton Kirby; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lorane Buckner of Pueblo, Colorado and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 14, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the home of Diane and Max Smith, 648 Jim Paige Road, Bear Creek, NC 27207. The funeral will be Monday, October 15, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Rocky River Baptist Church, 4436 Siler City-Snow Camp Road, Siler City with Rev. Greg Burriss officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
