Pauline Barker Powers, 93, of Siler City died Monday, July 2, 2012 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehab Center, Sanford.
Mrs. Powers was born in Randolph County on February 6, 1919 the daughter of Earl and Annie (Burke) Barker. Mrs. Powers was a member of Oakley Baptist Church where she a member of the Friendship Class and taught for 43 years. She was a homemaker known for her sewing ability and she used that ability in working at A J Schneirson and Kellwood. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Powers; her parents; sister, Ollie Barker;brother, Richard Barker and daughter-in-law, Virginia Powers.
She is survived by one daughter: Ruby Powers Hart and husband, Phil of Gulf and two sons: Don Powers of Greensboro and David Powers and wife, Cheryl of Southern Pines; three sisters: Swannie Holland of Thomasville, Bertha Marsh of Randleman, Betty Barker of Eden; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two nieces.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Oakley Baptist Church, 2300 Siler City-Glendon Road, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Thursday at 12:00 noon at Oakley Baptist Church, with Dr. Brian Sandifer and Rev. Eddie Ellison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
