Parker Gene Price, 84, of Hill Street, Siler City died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Chatham Hospital.
Mr. Price was born in Chatham County on February 8, 1933 the son of John and Ethel (Siler) Price. Parker was a member of Gees Grove AME Zion Church and a US Army Veteran. He had been employed by Paschal Machinery as a welder and had also worked at Marsh Auto Parts and Siler City Mills. Parker enjoyed fishing and baseball, which he coached for several years, reaching as high as a semi-pro league.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Fleta (Alston) Price; three daughters: Fleta Lois Knight of Sanford, Phyllis A. Martin of Siler City and Carrie Eaves of Pittsboro; two sons: Torris Price, Sr. of Siler City and Eric Price of Fayetteville; one brother, Obie L. Price of Compton, CA; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 1:30-2:00 PM at Gees Grove AME Zion Church, 245 Gees Grove Church Road, Siler City. The funeral will follow Thursday at 2:00 PM at Gees Grove AME Zion Church with Rev. Edward Hill, III officiating. Burial will be in Corinth AME Zion Church Cemetery, Siler City with Military Rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Smith & Buckner Funeral Home is assisting the family.
