Ometa Belle Hussey Brooks, 85, of Siler City-Glendon Road, Bear Creek died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Siler City Center.
Mrs. Brooks was born in Moore County on October 6, 1930 the daughter of Duff and Minnie (Brady) Hussey. She had worked for over 30 years at Selig Manufacturing in the cutting department. Ometa was a member of Siler City Gospel Hall where she was a former Sunday School teacher and nursery worker. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, working word search and visiting her neighbors. She also enjoyed caring for her family and sharing witness of her faith.
Ometa was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred L. Brooks; her parents; brothers, Landis, Burlin and Otis Hussey; sister, Omie Lou Upchurch.
She is survived by one daughter: Nancy Brooks Ellis and husband, Donnie of Bear Creek, NC; one son: Larry H. Brooks and wife, Ann of Siler City, NC; grandchildren, Scot Brooks, Jamie Brooks, Casey Ellis Circle and Sabrina Oates; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Matthew Brooks, Dalton Taylor, Caylin and Colson Circle; one brother, Kenny Hussey and wife, Shelby of High Falls.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the home of the daughter, Nancy Ellis, 4896 Siler City-Glendon Road, Bear Creek. A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Chatham Memorial Park, 13260 Hwy 64 West, Siler City with Tim Gessner and Ron Randolph officiating.
