Nick Bray Dark, 93, of South Second Avenue, Siler City died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Siler City Center, Siler City.
Mr. Dark was born in Chatham County on October 11, 1919, the son of Robert and Emma (Bray) Dark. Nick was a member of the First Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 93 and was an Army veteran of WW II. He was a retired electrician and had worked for Chatham Foods. Mr. Dark was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters including a special twin sister, Nydia D. Kemp, and two grandchildren, Todd Andrews and Brad Dark.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Lala (Deane) Sykes Dark, one son: Nick B. Dark, Jr. and wife Gail of Indianapolis, IN; three daughters: Carolyn D. Wood and husband, Tom of Ithaca, NY, Sharon D. Daye and husband, Ricky of Wake Forest, NC, and Lisa Dark of Siler City, NC; four grandchildren, Robert Dark, Trent Dark, Lauren Lampman and Kristen Daye; three great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 17, 2013 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Oakwood Cemetery, N. Chatham Ave, Siler City with Rev. Jim Wall and Rev. Tony Capehart officiating.
