Nellie Tally Gaines

Nellie Tally Gaines, 92, of 1480 Delphus Stinson Road, Goldston died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Gaines was born in Chatham County on May 24, 1920, the daughter of Fredrick Thurman and Matie Brewer Tally. She was the oldest member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Nellie enjoyed doing word search, reading, yard work and riding. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. Gaines, sisters, Mabel T. Phillips, Marjorie T. Gaines and Allene T. Beck and brother, Victor Tally. She is survived by one daughter: Audrey G. Culberson and husband, Robert of Siler City, NC and two sons: Dewey Gaines and wife, Janice of Randleman, NC, Steve Gaines and wife, Tina of Goldston, NC; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Tally of Randleman, NC. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 7 to 9 pm at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the home of the daughter, Audrey G. Culberson, 2746 Silk Hope-Liberty Road, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Monday, June 18, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 17721 NC Hwy 902, Bear Creek with Rev.
