Nellie Strother Seals Cole, 96, of Siler City died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Coventry House of Siler City.
Mrs. Cole was born in Montgomery County on November 2, 1918, the daughter of Millard Carson and Bennie (Parnell) Strother. Nellie was a 1935 graduate of Raeford High School. She was employed by Collins & Aikman, Inc. for 29 years. She was an active member of Siler City First Baptist Church for over 60 years. Nellie enjoyed reading, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, bowling and working in her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd McLean Seals (1969); her second husband, William Grady Cole (2002); son, Larry Seals; her brother, Loy Strother; two grandsons, Berry Buckner and Jeffrey Seals, Jr.
She is survived by one sister: Louise Morgan Morton of Albemarle, NC; four daughters: Karen Seals Gury (David) of Boca Raton, FL, Carol Buckner Harris of Zebulon, NC, Sharon Seals Brookbank of Snow Camp, NC, Robin Seals James (Dirk) of Siler City, NC; three sons: F. Michael Seals, Sr. (Gayle) of Piedmont, SC, Jeffrey S. Seals of Charlotte, NC, Donald G. Seals of Fayetteville, NC; three step-sons: David Cole (Gail) of Sophia, NC, Larry Cole of Walnut Cove, NC, and Bobby Cole of Randleman, NC; twenty grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; eight step-grandchildren; fifteen step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Betty Seals, Elaine Hendrix, Ruby Easterling, Myrta Davis, and Vera Cole.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. A celebration of life service will be Friday, May 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 314 N. 2nd Ave., Siler City with Rev. Tony Capehart and Rev. Jim Wall officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 6197 Aberdeen Rd., Raeford, NC 28376 at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 314 N. 2nd Ave., Siler City, NC 27344. The family would encourage you to plant a flower or a tree in her memory.
