Nancy Hargrove Wilkie, 88, of Silk Hope Liberty Road, Siler City went to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 24, 2023.

Nancy was born the youngest daughter of Barney Ross and Lillie Blanche Buckner Hargrove, on June 26, 1935. Nancy was a native of Chatham County, a retired self-employed chicken farmer of 60 years. She was a member of Plainfield Friends Meeting and a former Sunday school teacher.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Gene Wilkie, one daughter, Brenda Wilkie Smith and 7 siblings.

Nancy is survived by one grandson, Derrick Hall of the home; one daughter, Lee Ann Wilkie (grandson Stacy Glover); one son Barry and Rhonda Wilkie; (grandson’s Dustin and Jessica Wilkie, Lance and Caprice Wilkie; Drew and Leslie Wilkie); son-in-law, George “Pug” Smith, (grandson; Jason and Mari Smith); six great-granddaughters; Olivia and Emma Wilkie, Sophia and Skylar Glover, Braylen Wilkie and Jordyn Wilkie, four great- grandsons; Brennen Wilkie, Jackson Wilkie, Ashton Glover and Brendan Smith.

 

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Plainfield Friends Meeting, 1956 Plainfield Church Road, Siler City, NC 27344. Funeral services will follow at Plainfield Friends Meeting at 2:00 PM with Pastor Wayne Lamb officiating. Burial will be in the Meeting cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s association, www.alz.org or Plainfield Friends Meeting Building Fund, c/o Iris Terry.
