Mrs. Myrtle Ellen Beane Stephens, 89, of Charlotte, formerly of Siler City, died January 1st, 2017. A memorial service, to celebrate her life, will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday January 4th, 2017 at Plainfield Friends Meeting. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm prior.
Mrs. Stephens was born on February 14, 1927. Valedictorian of her class, she was recruited by Mr. C.C. Brewer, to work at Chatham Bank. She married Walter Bruton Stephens, who preceded he in death, in 1997. Her grandson, Collie Wayne Mendenhall passed away in 1971. Mrs. Stephens is survived by three children, Shirley Stephens Mendenhall, of Charlotte, Brenda Kay Stephens, of Durham, Barry Stephen of Snow Camp; brother, Dwight Beane; sister, Nancy Burke both of Siler City.
She has six grandchildren, Caroline Mendenhall, of Charlotte, Justin Mendenhall, of Charlotte, and Grayson Mendenhall and his wife Megan, of Durham, Myriah Earhart and husband Chris, of Mebane, Brittany Stephens, of Snow Camp, and Elijah Stephens of Canton, Georgia.
She is blessed with six great-grandchildren, Maddy Laneve, of Charlotte, Caedon Phoenix Weaver, Elena Daisy Mendenhall, and Karl J. Mendenhall II, of Durham, and Dylan and Delaney Cooney of Mebane, NC. She will also be greatly missed by her friend and caregiver, Wanda Teague.
