Myrtice Cooper Duncan, 93, of 337 Willie Duncan Road, Siler City died Sunday, September 9, 2012 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington.
Mrs. Duncan was born June 5, 1919 in Toone, TN the daughter of Burton and (Laney) Cooper.
She was retired after 30 years from Collins & Aikman as a mender. Myrtice was a member of Rocky River Baptist Church where she was of member of the Women's Bible Class and served as an usher on special occasions. She volunteered as a Bell Ringer for the Salvation Army. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who enjoyed working in her flowers, gardening, sewing and knitting. Myrtice was preceded in death by her husband, Willie A. Duncan; her parents, an infant daughter, two sons, Tommy and Truman Duncan, Sr.
She is survived by one daughter, Joyce D. Tally and husband, Tommy of Bear Creek, NC and one son: John "Johnny" B. Duncan of Siler City, NC; one sisters: Dolly Stanford of Melburne, AR and two brothers: Curtis Cooper of Boliar, TN, Denver Cooper of Los Angeles, CA; nine grandchildren, Angie Winslow (Bruce), Matt Duncan, Kaydi Duncan, Del Duncan (Ashley), Crystal McMath, Kimberly Davis (Andy), T. J. Tally, Cory Tally and Casey Yarbough and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the family home. The funeral will be Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Rocky River Baptist Church, 4436 Siler City-Snow Camp Road, Siler City with Rev. Greg W, Burriss officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery, Siler City.
