Myrl Wright Johnson, 90, of Pittsboro died Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill surrounded by family.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Chatham County on December 25, 1925 the daughter of Rollin Elwood and Eva (Hadley) Wright. She was a lifelong member of South Fork Friends Meeting where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 25 years and also served as treasurer of the South Fork Cemetery Association for over 25 years. Myrl was previously employed with May's Hosiery and Kellwood Hosiery Mills before becoming a beautician. She was owner/operator of Myrl's Beauty Shop for 50 years working into her 80s. She enjoyed getting together with family, loved people, especially children and babies. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, reading and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
Myrl was preceded in death by, her husband of 55 years, Victor R. Johnson; sisters, Madge W. Culberson, Meredith "Buddy" W. Johnson and Frances W. Cheek.
She is survived by one sister: Flora "Pud" W. Jordan of Snow Camp; multiple nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 4, 2016 from 5:00-8:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at her home on Friday and Saturday. The funeral will be Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at South Fork Friends Meeting, 359 South Fork-Bethel Road, Snow Camp with Pastor Andrew and Mary Blake Needham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
