Myra Annette Russell Brooks, 79, of Greensboro, went home to be with Jesus on April 22nd, 2024, surrounded by family.
Myra was born in Davidson County on March 22nd, 1945, to Conrad R. Russell and Lora Bernice Black Russell. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David Russell.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Rodger Brooks; two daughters, Michele B. McDuffie and her husband Eric of Durham, and Lora Suzanne Rondinone and her husband Adam of Los Alamos, New Mexico; one son, Geoff Brooks and his wife Whitney of Winston Salem; six grandchildren, Devin, Aiden, Nathan, Heather, Benton, and Preston; one sister, Janice Russell and her partner, Lavonda Cody of Denton; and one sister-in-law, Eleanor Russell of Clemmons.
She was a 1967 graduate of Guilford College in elementary education. She continued to teach math to seventh and eighth graders at Guilford Middle School for 25 years. Myra was very involved at First Lutheran Church in Greensboro as a choir member and volunteer. She was a loving grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, as well as doing jigsaw puzzles, making pottery and flower arrangements, arts and crafts, cooking, collecting owls, and feeding birds.

The family will be having a Celebration of Life service Sunday, May 5th, 2024 at 3 PM at First Lutheran Church, 3600 West Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC; with visitation prior from 1:30 - 3:00 PM. Officiated by Rev. Michael Dickson.
