Mildred Headen Lemons, 94, of Siler City died Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Siler City Center.
Mrs. Lemons was born in Chatham County on May 9, 1922 the daughter of William J. and Minnie Ola (Smith) Headen. She was a graduate of Siler City High School where she played basketball. Mildred was a member of Hope United Methodist Church and later joined the Siler City Chapel. She had been employed with Chatham Foods and had cared for children in her home.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Milton Lemons, III; her parents and a sister, Margaret Tillman; brother, Clyde Headen.
She is survived by son: Thomas Edward Lemons and wife, Carolyn; one daughter: Dee Lee Thompkins and son, Johnnie Milton Lemons, IV and wife, Darlene all of Siler City; grandchildren, Courtney Lemons, Crystal Calhoun, Paige Buffaloe, Amanda Spinks and Will Lemons; great-grandchildren, Callie and Colby Calhoun, Mason and Reese Buffaloe Madison, Camden, Riley and Anson Spinks, Chloe and Carmen Lemons; special nieces, Cindy Burke Bray and Sandra Elmore Siler of Siler City.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 6:30-8:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral will be Friday, September 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Gooch and Rev. Kenny Black officiating. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.
