Melvin R. Neal

Melvin R. Neal, 74, of Jesse Phillips Road, Robbins died Monday, February 20, 2017. Mr. Neal was born in Moore County on June 3, 1942 the son of Clayborn Mack and Annie Maude (McKenzie) Neal. He was a member of Fair Promise United Methodist Church where he played on the church softball team. Melvin loved times spent with his family at home and his church family. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid coon hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Irene Shaver; brothers, Edward Neal and Clayborn Mack Neal, Jr. Melvin is survived by his wife of 53 years: Margaret (Hundley) Neal; one daughter: Wanda N. Ritter and husband, Bobby of Troy; three sisters: Hilda Cole of Columbus, IN. , Helen Kivett of Carthage and Vivian Wynn of Mebane; grandchildren, Derek L. Luck of Raleigh, Ashton D. Luck of Robbins, Jamie D. Luck of Robbins. A memorial service will be held be Friday, February 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Fair Promise United Methodist Church, 192 Glendon-Carthage Road, Goldston with Rev. Billy Joe Brady and Vanlene Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Burial will be in Neal Family Cemetery at a later date.
