Maxine Davis Phillips, 81, of 801 Pinehurst Avenue, Carthage died Monday, March 12, 2012 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Mrs. Phillips was born June 29, 1930 in Bear Creek, NC the daughter of Alfred Lee and Stella (Phillips) Davis, Sr. Mrs. Davis spent most of her life as a resident of South Port. She attended Beach Road Baptist Church in South Port and worked as a waitress. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Phillips; her parents; son, Joey Canterbury; brothers and sisters, "Junior" Alfred Davis, Wilbur Davis, Josephine Webster and Lessie Cross.
She is survived by two daughters: Susan D. Parsons of Carolina Beach, NC, Debbie D. Robinson of Prince Frederick, MD and one son: Jimmy "Jim" W. Davis of Asheboro, NC; sister and her husband, Dorothy D. & Freddy Phipps of Los Angeles, CA; step son, Rick Phillips of Greensboro, NC; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 12:00 PM at Chatham Memorial Park, 13260 Hwy 64 West, Siler City.
