Mary Lou Whitehurst Davis

Mary Lou Whitehurst Davis, 86, of Bear Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 20th, 2025, at home surrounded by family.

Mary Lou was born on February 22nd, 1938, in Pitt County, to the late John Henry Whitehurst and Arue Brown Whitehurst. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Arue.

Mary Lou was a teacher and loved molding the minds of children. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church. She was the wife of Pastor Clark Davis for 65 years. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with them. She also loved going to the Outer Banks with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 65 years, Pastor Clark Davis; her son, Mark Davis and his wife, Susan of Bear Creek; her sister, Shirley Simmons and her husband, Jimmy of New Bern; her grandchildren, Leighton Davis and his wife, Alexis, Lauren Carlson and her husband, Jeremy, Connor Davis, and his fiancé, Colby, and Savannah Crissman and her husband, Evan; and her three great grandchildren, Riley, Scarlett, and Kacie.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 24th, 2025, at 2 pm, at Zion Christian Church. 23 Zion Church Rd., Sanford, NC 27330. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow at Antioch Christian Independent Baptist Church Cemetery, 246 Antioch Christian Church Rd., Bear Creek, NC 27207. Services will be officiated by Pastor Steve Johnson and Pastor Jimmy Talton.
