Mary Parks LaRue, 99, of Gilliland Road, Siler City died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Siler City Center. Mrs. LaRue was born in Grayson County, Virginia on August 4, 1914 the daughter of Dave and Elizabeth (Cummings) Parks. She was a member of Brookdale Baptist Church and retired from Robbins and Ghant. Family was the center of her life and she looked forward to family gatherings and outings. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening and canning. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lester LaRue; daughter, Jessie McGlocklin; her parents; brother, George Parks. She is survived by two daughters: Wilma Bowman of Siler City, NC, Janette Fagg and husband, Louis of Siler City, NC; two sons: Sterling DeBoard and wife, Betty of Virginia, Joe DeBoard and wife, Shirley of Siler City, NC; sister, Virginia P. Buckholder of Fairfax, Virginia; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren and twenty-four; great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Brookdale Baptist Church, 1133 West Third Street, Siler City with Rev. Walter Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City. Online condolences may be made at www.pughfuneralhome.com.
