Mary Ola Davis Thurman

Mary Ola Davis Thurman, 92, of Bish Road, Staley died Monday, February 3, 2014 at Chatham Hospital, Inc., Siler City. Mrs. Thurman was born in Warren County, Tennessee on December 5, 1921 the daughter of Will and Flossie Mae (Emery) Davis. Ola was a homemaker and member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. She enjoyed quilting, cooking and working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She also found joy in times spent with her children and grandchildren. Ola was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Thurman;her parents; son, Martin Thurman, grandchild, Lisa T. Moore. She is survived by two daughters: Dorothy Purvis and husband, Joe of Bennett, NC, Linda Phillips and husband, Robert of Siler City, NC; three sons: Earl Thurman of Sanford, NC, Larry Thurman and wife, Diane of Siler City, NC, Jerry Thurman and wife, Malinda of Silk Hope, NC; two brothers: Edward Davis of Nashville, TN, Aubra Davis and wife, Billie of Bennett, NC; eleven grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the family home. The funeral will be Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 2343 Piney Grove Church Road, Siler City with Rev. Jim Folks officiating.
