Mary Elizabeth Thompson Elkins, 69, of College Street, Siler City died Monday, August 12, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Elkins was born in Chatham County on August 19, 1943 the daughter of Lewis and Hattie (Lewis) Thompson. Mrs. Elkins was a graduate of Silk Hope School and Central Carolina Community College. She had worked in the accounting office at Boling Chair, Inc. and later established her own company, Professional Business Solutions. Mary was a member of Rocky River Friends Meeting where she served as recording clerk, assistant treasurer, and Sunday School teacher. Mary was proud of her Quaker upbringing and the self-disciplined character and morals it embodied. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband: William Lee Elkins; one brother: Harvey Lewis Thompson of Alabama and nieces and nephews, Jonathan,Chrisman, Elizabeth Thompson, Loretta Kivett and Amy Elkins.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 13, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Rocky River Friends Meeting, 1795 Staley-Snow Camp Road, Siler City with David Hobson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
