Mary Mildred Caviness

Mary Merkley Caviness, 66, of Joe Caviness Road, Bear Creek died Monday, September 1, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Caviness was born in Pike County, Kentucky on September 20, 1947 the daughter of Joseph Edward and Eula Brook (Maynard) Merkley. She was a homemaker and a poultry and cattle farmer. Mary was a member of Edwards Hill Friends Church. She was preceded in death by a son, James "Jim" Goodman; two sisters and one brother. She is survived by husband, Jimmy Allen Caviness of the home; one daughter: Sissy Goodman of Sanford, NC; grandson, Noah Jamison Dunn of St. Louis, MO; granddaughter, Noelle Brooke Beattie of Sanford, NC; seven brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Monday, September 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Edwards Hill Friends Meeting, Siler City with Josh Conrad, Darrell Williams and Wayne Lamb officiating.
