Mary "Fannie" Burke

Mary "Fannie" Lopossay Burke, 73, of Siler City passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill. Mrs. Burke was born in Chatham County on January 23, 1948, the daughter of Marvin Buck Lopossay, Sr. and Virginia Shusky Lopossay. Fannie was a member of the Siler City Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was in the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. She enjoyed spending time with her church Sunday School group eating at Dry Dock. Fannie retired from Glendale Hosiery as a knitter, then spent years working at Mountaire in housekeeping. She loved keeping her grandchildren and enjoyed dancing, shopping and would occupy her time with word search puzzles. In addition to her parents, Fannie is preceded in death by her husband John Larry Burke, and brother Marvin B. Lopossay, Jr., and sister Frances. She is survived by her sons; Michael Burke and wife Marie of Bear Creek, and Jeff Burke and wife Dawn of Siler City, sister; Doris Lopssay of Liberty, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Fannie will Lie in Repose on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 1:00-5:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. A graveside service will be Monday, February 15, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Chatham Memorial Park, 13260 Hwy 64 West, Siler City with Rev. Mark Richardson officiating.
