Martha Watkins Blanchard, 82, of North Fir Avenue, Siler City died Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the home of her daughter.
Mrs. Blanchard was born in Chatham County on August 13, 1932 the daughter of Thomas Garland and Valle (Murray) Watkins. She was employed by Lorillard Tabacco Company in distribution. Martha enjoyed all crafts including painting and woodcrafts. She also enjoyed working puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Stanley Blanchard and her parents.
She is survived by daughters: Deborah Lynne Reid and husband, Kent of Jamestown, NC, Lisa Adkins of Kentucky, Laurie Manning of Siler City, NC;sons: David Baynes, Douglas Baynes both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; sisters: Polly Lincoln of Winston Salem, NC, Ila Ellington of Greensboro, NC; brother: Lucian Watkins of Belton, Texas; step-sons, Steve Blanchard and wife, Susan of Richmond, VA, Mark Blanchard and wife, Tracey of Wendell, NC; step-daughter, Angela Brady and husband, Rodney of Siler City, NC; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 19, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Blanchard officiating. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.
