Martha Rachel Whitehead, 84 of Siler City, NC, lost her battle with cancer on Wednesday, February 26, 2014.
She was born in Chatham County, the daughter of Henry and Buena (Ferguson) Whitehead. Rachel was a member of Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church for over 70 years and was employed as a paralegal. She was a volunteer for over 20 years with the Chatham County Historical Society. Rachel also volunteered with the West Chatham County Relay for Life for 10 years. She will long be remembered for her talents in calligraphy with many of her works framed and displayed in homes far and near. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Ina Mae Whitehead and a niece, Martha Troutman Warwick.
She is survived by one sister: Maxine W. Wallace of Colfax, NC; great-nephew, Christopher Wrenn Cox of Richmond, VA. and a host of treasured friends.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church, 5016 Silk Hope-Gum Spring Road, Pittsboro
