Mark David Gaines, 56, of Siler City died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. Mr. Gaines was born in Chatham County on June 9, 1960 the son of William Clarence and Marjorie (Tally) Gaines. Mark was a 1978 graduate of Chatham Central High School, a member of Moons Chapel Baptist Church and an employee of the NCDOT. He had a unique sense of humor, enjoyed all sports, especially UNC Tar Heels and NASCAR. Mark was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Hal Gaines and a sister, Gail Ashley. He is survived by one son: Dylan Gaines of Siler City; three sisters: Lydia T. Tart of Randleman, Kay Keck of Apex and Kathy Woody of Lillington; three brothers: Paul Gaines of Kernersville, Mike Gaines of Siler City and Brent Ashley of Carthage. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 2:00-3:00 pm at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Faw officiating. Burial will be in Gaines Grove Cemetery, Goldston. Memorials may be made to Randolph Hospice House, 416 Vision Drive,Asheboro, NC 27203. Online condolences may be made at www.pughfuneralhome.com.
