Marjorie Jones Messer, 89, of 236 Messer Drive, Siler City died Friday, September 4, 2015 at Coventry House of Siler City,
Mrs. Messer was born on October 3, 1925 in Johnston County. She was the daughter of Worth Melvin and Pearl (Barber) Jones. Marjorie was a farmer's wife and also worked in retail at TG&Y, and McCory's Stores. She was a member of Community Baptist Church, where she served on the funeral food committee, and helped cook for Wednesday Prayer Service. She loved working in her flower garden and canning. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Michael Lee Messer, her husband, Floyd J. Messer, Jr.; a brother, Worth B. Jones, and infant great-granddaughter, Caitlin Michelle Womble.
She is survived by a daughter: Judy Messer Cardwell of Moore, SC; three sons: Melvin D. Messer of Siler City, NC, Floyd J. Messer, III of Silk Hope, and Gordon G. Messer of Siler City, NC; two sisters: Ann J. Andrews of Clayton, NC; Pansy Benson of Graham, NC; one brother, Troy B. Jones of Clayton, NC; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 10:30-11:30 AM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC., and other times at the family home. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 1:30 PM at Maplewood Cemetery, 504 Smith Street Clayton, NC with Rev. Stephen Joyner officiating.
